Tottenham 2-0 Blackpool
A game I didn’t get to see but listened to on the radio. Some good football and some horrible defending, apparently. Nothing new yet, then. Here are Juande Ramos’ quotes after the first game against Blackpool:
“On the negative side, we gave away too many opportunities to Blackpool,” Ramos told reporters.
“Against a side like Blackpool, we shouldn’t be giving away so many chances, given that they are a team from a lower division.
“On the positive side, the team showed great will to play. They fought very hard for the victory, just three days after their last game.
“The most important thing here was the victory and getting the result.
“The team played well generally, showing some spells of good football. Now, with this result, we can look forward to the next round.
“It was fundamental for the team’s confidence that we got a result. That’s why I played a strong side. It was important to stop the run of bad results.
“Obviously, the team has had only three days with me. The team has to improve in all areas – attack and defence – but this is a squad of great professionals.
“I hope the team improves quickly, but with so many matches back-to-back it’s difficult to work with them.”
’nuff said
