Sunny days for Jol

Apparently Jol gave an interview exclusively to The Sun in which he disses Damien Comolli quite seriously and says he didn’t want Bent, Kaboul or KPB and Comolli was not consulting him on purchases like the system requires and like Frank Arnesen had been doing for the 5 minutes he was at Tottenham.

This fits in with what every Spurs fan thinks of Jol’s club-coach relationship but needs to be confirmed by other sources before it can be taken seriously. Why a man who had just received a GBP 5m bonus would sell a story to The Sun is beyond me. I would have expected that if he wanted to get something off his chest he would have gone to a broadsheet with a reputation for scrupulous honesty.

That said The Sun is not The Daily Mail and tends not to make up football stories ad hoc- just stories about WAGS and so-on. They know their market. All other papers that have reported have done so quoting The Sun without any separate confirmation.

Sound about right, though. We all knew he wanted an experienced left winger above all else.
